Well, I caught a plane….

And caught some connections….

To the exotic and sooooo far away stop of Thailand and the island of Samui…

Where, with other weary, but excited travelers, I caught a ferry at the Gulf of Thailand ….

and landed on the island of Koh Phangan. It took over thirty hours of travel to get here…flying from Virginia to Istanbul/Istanbul to Bangkok/Bangkok to Samui, and, finally, taking the ferry to Koh Phangan, Thailand’s 5th largest island and one of the most beautiful and wild. Located 70 km from the mainland and just 12 km from Koh Samui, Phangan does not have an airport and relies heavily on ferries from the mainland and Koh Samui to transport visitors. Essentially, I have traveled to the other side of the world. Here’s where I am!!!

The name Koh Pha-ngan derives from the word “ngan”, meaning ‘sand bar’ for there are many sand bars offshore. But for right now, this Unseasoned Traveler is discovering that this is the land of spellbinding sunsets. I am told that no two can be compared in beauty. I plan to find out, so here is my first night’s experience taken on the ferry crossing to Phangan.

See you at sunset tomorrow.
From far, far away…..The Unseasoned Traveler!

Enjoy your adventure! When you return, we have to get together!,

I knew it was only a matter of time before you would return with Ashleigh to discover her beloved Vietnam. I think that’s where she was stuck during covid, wasn’t it? Anyway I trust you two are having a wonderful time. I am enjoying your posts as always.Â
