We went to a crystal manufacturing operation in Colle di Val d’Elsa outside of Florence. This factory has been producing crystal since 1960. The outside of the factory and the factory showroom don’t match the drama that is going on in the actual production of the crystal. And, by the way, there are no women working in this factory. I asked the “woman” question and was told that traditionally, women do not work in crystal factories. The men who do work here are highly skilled in the art of creating crystal, and they have a kind of pride, mixed with bravado, that is hard to resist. Take a look!
Takes a brave soul to work with this kind of heat.
They all make it look like fun.
They take turns at the oven.
Undeniable skills.
And pride.
They love an audience…just look at that face!!!!
Taking pictures…no problem.
Beautiful stuff.
Then what we get to buy.
I am glad this stop was included on my junket and that you got to see it too…..My time in Florence is going much too quickly….Love, The Unseasoned Traveler
Awesome I took a similar trip in Venice to watch them make a kinda famous glass ..who’s name escapes me..I loved watching it..
